Bringing Easter to the Children’s Wards of Oxfordshire and Berkshire
Royal Berkshire Hospital – Wed 27th March
John Radcliff Hospital – Thursday 28th March
With the Special Assistance of The Easter Bunny, Swift are pleased to be delivering over 600 Easter Eggs and special gifts to Children and Siblings who will be spending Easter in Children’s Wards at Readings Royal Berkshire Hospital and Oxfords John Radcliff Hospital this year.
This project started just with the staff of our offices in Oxford, Reading and Head Office in Newbury, but as news quickly spread to our clients and friends, we had to apply our logistical expertise to the task of collecting hundreds of Eggs and gifts from across the South of England.
MD, Adrian Smith said; “Within our circle of employees, clients and friends a large number have had children of family and of close friends who have had to spend time in hospital and while the staff at both the JR and RB do a wonderful job to lessen the impact of being away from their homes and families – it’s a scary experience... even for us “Big Kids”!
“It’s at times like Easter and Christmas when we get the opportunity to take a break from our busy lives and spend time with our own kids, and it is then that the impact of having a loved one hospitalised really hit’s . They miss out on all the fun at home, we just want to make sure we play, albeit a very small part, in bringing some of that fun and magic to them”.
“The outstanding response from our clients and friends who heard about our little project is truly humbling. Everyone of them is to be congratulated, although I have a suspicion that, like me, they view such giving as very selfish - almost a guilty pleasure - just knowing the smiles and real difference that such a simple act can and does bring to the faces of literally hundreds of kids.”
“It’s great, and certainly reminds me to hug my kid’s just that little bit tighter”
